Network for Women in Neuroscience

About Us

Despite the growing number of highly qualified female researchers in neuroscience, there are still few women in leading research positions. The visibility of female neuroscientists is also still far too low in comparison to their achievements. It is therefore our goal to provide women from all neuroscientific disciplines, employed in academia and non-academic fields, with a platform, to draw attention to their work and share their research. We will support them in raising their visibility, improving their career development and creating new opportunities for collaboration with other researchers, as well as non-academic institutions. It is important to us to promote junior scientists in particular, so we are addressing female neuroscientists from postdoctoral level onwards.

Moreover, we welcome anyone looking for experts in neuroscience to register with NEURONEXXT and use our database to search for eligible candidates. These could range from speakers at a conference to candidates for research positions/professorships, or members of a scientific committee/advisory board.

NEURONEXXT has been initiated by Prof. Dr. Denise Manahan-Vaughan, head of the Department of Neurophysiology at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and since 2010, speaker of the Collaborative Research Centre 874 (SFB 874) "Integration and Representation of Sensory Processes" which is based at the RUB. A project team of the RUB/SFB 874 has been responsible for the concept and implementation of the database.

NEURONEXXT is financed by gender equality funds of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, it is therefore funded by public resources exclusively. NEURONEXXT does not pursue any commercial objectives and the data provided by its users will not be given or sold to third parties. For further information consult our privacy policy.
